Your tour of the Argo includes a view into the history of the Argo Mill and Tunnel through a short film that will explain its origins. Our walking tour historians will offer a demonstration of mining equipment outside the gift shop and tour office, then transport you up to our ore mine, the Double Eagle and then to the newly opened to the public Argo Tunnel. From there, you will enter the 5-story Argo Mill and descend through the myriad of artifacts left in place from the days when the Mighty Argo was in full production. Enjoy looking through the fantastic array of mining artifacts and equipment in our museum room. Stepping out of the Argo Mill, you will find yourself in our panning yard where we offer a gold panning lesson and assist you in finding real gold ore – and – you keep what you find! We also offer gold panning and gem panning separately from the tours. It’s a great option for those short on time.

Located in historic downtown Idaho Springs, Tommyknocker Brewery has been passionately crafting award winning ales and lagers for more than 20 years. TKB has been awarded over 100 medals from a multitude of local, national and international competitions, including 17 GABF medals. We just might be the most awarded brewery you’ve never heard of. But that’s okay with us because we’ve never been about the fads. Instead, we focus on making great, drinkable ales and lagers that stand the test of time. Now being sold in 10 states, one taste and you’ll know why our growth continues to be sure and steady.
TKB is about more than great beer. Our historic building and its ambiance, the restaurant and brewpub menu, our line of craft sodas…we could go on and on but we’d rather you came for a visit to see for yourself.
Tommyknocker Brewery is dedicated to our community and the environment. We partner with local organizations to raise money for great causes and promote local industry. We’re also a “green” brewery employing a comprehensive recycling program and utilizing renewable energy.
